Joey Pigza really wants to know his estranged dad and convinces his mom to let him spend some time with him over the summer. But Joey's dad is just as wired as Joey used to be (before his ADHD meds) and now his dad is pressuring him to stop the meds and try to control his ADHD himself, cold turkey, just like Joey's dad did when he beat alcoholism. Joey sees himself hurtling toward disaster.
