The Stray Dog
by Marc Simont

The Stray Dog is a charming, feel good story about time spent together as a family, the joy that pets bring to our lives, and how sometimes life gives you a second chance to create a happy ending.

Here's a quick summary: During a picnic at the park, a family encounters a stray dog that captures their hearts. Feeling he must belong to someone, they leave him behind, then think about the little puppy all week long. When they seem him again the next week, they decide to adopt him and take him home, but first they must convince the dog catcher not to take him away.

Although the book is new, it somehow reminds us of the books we read in our own youth. It perfectly captures that feeling you want and expect from a children's book!  Simont's illustrations are adorable, especially the interactions between the energetic little pup and the children. Readers of all ages will "adore this simple tale of puppy love." (Amazon Review)

If you read this book aloud, add to the fun by telling the children that it is actually based on a true story told to Simont by one of his friends!
