Grandpa Green
by Lane Smith

A little boy learns about the full and varied life of his Grandpa Green by strolling through his grandfather's garden, which is full of topiary trees that have been carved to represent a lifetime of memories and remembrances. We won't spoil the ending, but the last page is particularly fitting...and touching. We love Smith's unique, whimsical illustrations and so will kids and adults of all ages.

In a starred review, School Library Journal said, "Visually intriguing and emotionally resonant, this is a book to pore over and talk about. With each subsequent reading, it offers new layers of meaning and visual connections."  This book is a 2012 Caldecott Honor Book!
