The Kid's Book of
Weather Forecasting

by meteorologists Mark Breen and Kathleen Friestad
(a Williamson Kids Can! Series book)

This Kids Can! book is "a good place to look for weather-related activities" and clearly written explanations of the science behind meteorological forecasts. Ample cartoon-like drawings, photographs, and diagrams help clarify more complex concepts.

The authors have struck just the right tone for this audience, keeping the book "informal, yet always informative." (Booklist)   Kids will walk away much better able to forecast weather, and teachers will certainly appreciate all the fun hands-on projects (ie: making a barometer, a rain gauge, a simulated tornado...).
