Seaman's Journal
On the Trail with Lewis and Clark

by Patricia Reeder Eubank

Meriwether Lewis brought his Newfoundland dog, Seaman, along on the three year, 8,000+ mile expedition. This engaging picture book tells the story of that expedition through the dog's point of view, sharing encounters with Native Americans, dealing with wild buffalo, etc. While this means the book is clearly fictional in nature, Eubanks based Seaman's Journal on actual entries in Meriwether Lewis's journal and kids will learn a great deal about the Lewis and Clark journey from this book.

You'll love the highly detailed illustrations, which resemble to actual journal illustrations from Lewis and Clark's expedition.  Click below for a sample page.
