Pythagoras and
the Ratios

by Julie Ellis
illustrated by Phyllis Peacock

This follow-up to the educational title What's Your Angle, Pythagoras continues with the storybook math lesson, but this time on Pythagorean ratios.

In the story, young Pythagoras and his friends want to win a music contest, but their instruments are out of tune. In puzzling over the problem, Pythagoras uncovers mathematical relationships in the sounds.

Full disclosure: We have not had a chance to read this book yet, but we're adding it here early because several teachers have written in to recommend this book for geometry lessons. We have it on order and will update this section once we are done. Based on the educational strengths of it's predecessor (above) and the challenge that some students have grasping Pythagorean ratios, we imagine the strongest benefit of this book will be in differentiating your lesson for the many different learning styles in your classroom.
