Privacy
Policy
We strive to maintain the highest standards of decency, fairness and
integrity, and we're dedicated to protecting your privacy on our
website. Here's lots of details on what we mean by that:
Personal
Information: We don't collect ANY personally identifiable
information from visitors to our website, except for in (1) the Suggest a
Book form, in which we give the user the option
of including their
name, email address, and state, and in (2) the Monthly Newsletter
opt-in form, which requires an email address and your first name. We do
NOT use this information for any other reason than to communicate with
you (for book suggestions) or send the newsletter (for monthly
newsletter opt-in), nor do
we give or sell this information to any other party.
Use of
Cookies and Web Beacons: Right now we don't use cookies
because, um, we don't really know how to...or why we'd want to.
Same for web beacons, which is a file used to monitor your
journey around our site. We don't track where you go on our
site, other then a simple online program that helps us see where people
enter and exit our site. That helps us make the site better.
We don't know where you in particular entered or
exited, just that a user did.
Having
said that, we do have some ads on our site through Google Adsense, and
they may use cookies and web beacons to ascertain how many times you've
seen an advertisement. No personally identifiable information you give
us is provided to them for cookie or web beacon use, so they
cannot personally identify you with that information on our web site.
Also, some third-party advertisements may be provided by Google, which
uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google uses the DART cookie,
which enables it to serve ads to our users based on their visits to
this site and other sites on the Web. You may opt out of the use of the
DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy.
Browsers
can be set to accept or reject cookies or notify you when a cookie is
being sent. Privacy software can be used to override web beacons.
Taking either of these actions shouldn't cause a problem with our site
Children's
Online Privacy Protection Act: This website is directed to
adults; it is not directed to children under 13. We operate our site in
compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, and will
not knowingly collect or use personal information from anyone under 13
years of age.
Non-Personal
Information: In some cases, we may collect information
about you that is not personally identifiable. We use this information,
which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, to
administer the site, to track users' movements around the site and to
gather demographic information about our user base as a
whole. The information collected is used solely for internal
review and not shared with other organizations for commercial purposes.
How You
Can Correct or Remove Information: If you have
submitted personal information through our website and would like that
information deleted from our records or would like to update or correct
that information, please email us at info@the-best-childrens-books.org .
Updates
and Effective Date: The-best-childrens-books.org reserves the right to
make changes in this policy.
If there is a material change in our privacy practices, we will
indicate on our site that our privacy practices have changed and
provide a link to the new privacy policy.
Agreeing
to Terms: Your use of this site
indicates acceptance of this privacy policy.
Affiliate
Disclosure The-best-childrens-books.org is a participant in the
Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising
program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees
by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. Basically, if you
buy something at Amazon after following one of our links, we get a
small comission. Very small. But, our goal is that those
small comissions will cover all our costs of hosting and running this
site. We're not there yet, but we are hopeful!
So if you find a book via this site and decide to buy it on Amazon, it
would be super swell if you would access Amazon through one of
our links. It all adds up to help us make the site better!
FCC
Disclosure And
lastly, we do not accept free books from publishers or any other
special perks in exchange for including books on this site.
We include books based on awards received, Amazon reader
reviews, and high recommendations from teachers who use the book in
their own classroom.
