Magic School Bus books on the water cycle
Wet All Over -and- At the Waterworks

We were surprised to see two Magic School Bus books about the water cycle, but we gather the second book was written to reach a younger audience. At the Waterworks is appropriate for Gr. 2-4 and is a bit more advanced than Wet All Over, which targets children in K-Gr. 2.

Both books cover the basics of the water cycle via a magical field trip in which the class travels through the water cycle and experiences the steps of the water cycle firsthand--- evaporating, condensing into a cloud, raining down as a droplet, etc...

The more advanced book---At the Waterworks---incorporates modern water systems into the title as well, which is helpful since virtually every child is curious about how water "gets into the faucet." Where Wet All Over has the class running off into the ocean, this title has the class flowing
into a reservoir, then traveling through a purification system, then pipes under city streets, and finally ending up in the faucet of a girls' bathroom at their school.>

At the Waterworks is actually the very first book in the series---the one that launched it all!  This title was first written 20 years ago, but Scholastic has recently updated the scientific information and print quality, so be sure that you get a new copy!
