lesson ideas, a peak inside, and more

The big show is about to start, but where are all the leaping lizards? The show calls for 50 lizards and Snake the Director only sees five!  But before long, the lizards arrive in fives and tens, with each new group added to a chart on the right side of the page. On the second to last spread, readers see the start of the "Fifty Leaping Lizards Show". The last spread includes related extension activities for teaching students to count by fives and tens.

The story is cute and educational, but our favorite part is probably the adorable little lizards.  School Library Journal said the "effective design" is the highlight.  Put together, the engaging storyline, the adorable illustrations and the effective design make this a solid classroom addition.
