American Girl Books

The following American Girl books have brought children's historical fiction to the forefront of popular children's fiction. For over a decade, young girls have devoured these series and learned a great deal of history in the process. Through each six-book series, children can learn about a different aspect of American history, all through the perspective of a nine year old girl living in that period.

*Teachers--These books are ideal for supplementing American History lesson plans in 3rd grade to 5th grade. However, these books are heavily targeted at young girls, so boys will probably need a different option. Try My America or My Name is America, as both feature boys.
