It's summer and Penny is taking advantage of the hot weather by setting up a lemonade stand. At first she sells her lemonade for a penny, then two pennies, then a nickle.

Slowly the money builds up in her coin jar, and the total jumps when Grandma spends ten cents and a few customers even spend a quarter! 

This Step Into Reading Math Reader is a simple story. It's not going to win any awards for clever plot twists or Caldecott-worthy illustrations (although they are cute!), but it's a solid choice for teaching money. We like how the math is reinforced on the last page, which features drawings of the coins and how five pennies equal a nickel, two nickels equal a dime...
